The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) and the Rotaract Club of Birmingham have partnered to launch the first state-specific scholarship database - AchieveAlabama.org.
Launched in conjunction with College Application Week, Achieve Alabama is an online scholarship resource providing students, educators, and parents with an effective scholarship search tool and college preparation resource that has the capability to guide students through the entire college admission process.
According to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, in 2015, 50 percent of Alabama high school graduates were enrolled in an Alabama public university or college, but one third of those students never received any financial aid. Founded by the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and the non-profit College Admissions Made Possible (CAMP) and Cappex, to make scholarship funding more readily available to high school students across Alabama, the site aims to bridge the information gap on how students learn about, research, and ultimately receive scholarships.
The site is cost-free and is available to all high school students in the state. It houses thousands of university-specific and private scholarships. The site also focuses specifically on local scholarship dollars that are awarded each year by Alabama businesses and private foundations.

The scholarship is open to Alabama high school seniors and students enrolled in two or four year colleges or
universities. Participants must submit an essay of at least 1,000 words, with the prompt being how can we educate our community about the dangers of distracted driving and what are some practical ways we can drastically reduce distracted driving related accidents. More information can be found
